City of Sesser City Council met July 30.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

A special meeting of the Sesser City Council was held at city hall on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. It was called to order by Mayor Ashmore at 5:02 PM. Roll call was called by the clerk as follows:

Rose Bochantin--here, Dana Laur--absent, Wayne Shannon-- absent, David Bates—absent, Travis Zettler—here, Jeff Hamburger--here.

Agenda Item #1

Mayor Ashmore explained the resolution to close Hwy 154 from Cockrum Street to Hwy 148. A motion was made by Rose Bochantin and seconded by Travis Zettler to approve and pass resolution #11—2025, a resolution to close a portion of State Route 154 (known as Franklin Avenue) from Cockrum Street to State Route 148 (known as Park Avenue) from 3—10 PM on August 16, 2025. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.

Agenda Item #2

Mayor Ashmore explained the bids for the A/C in the Opera House downstairs annex. A motion was made by Travis Zettler and seconded by Jeff Hamburger to purchase a new AC unit from Rend Lake Plumbing (the low bidder) in the amount of $8,296.00. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.

Agenda Item #3

Mayor Ashmore explained that he had traveled to the IML Summer board Leadership meeting in Champaign, IL on July 24—25. A motion was made to approve reimbursement for this travel and stay by Travis Zettler and seconded by Jeff Hamburger in the amount of $408.37. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Rose Bochantin and seconded by Jeff Hamburger to adjourn at 5:14 PM. All those in attendance were in favor of the motion. Motion carried.
