Waltonville Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Aug. 28.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Regular meeting called to order at 6:30 P.M.

In the High School Ag Room. Present: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Absent: None.

Motion by Shaw, Seconded by Klingler to go into closed session at 7:30 P.M. for the purpose of discussing the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees, specific individuals who serve as independent contractors, or specific volunteers of the District or legal counsel for the District, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee, a specific individual who serves as an independent contractor, or a volunteer of the District or against legal counsel for the District to determine its validity, and student discipline. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Schaefer, Seconded by Klingler to go into open session at 6:43 P.M. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Schaefer, Seconded by Shaw to approve the consent agenda, including additional bills of $1364.47. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Kash, Seconded by Klingler to approve an additional $7,400 to the original quote from St. Louis Ballfield & Turf LLC of $15,000 making the total $22,400. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Shaw, Seconded by Kash to approve Derek Lamke as volunteer assistant girls High School golf coach. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Abstain: Lamke. Motion Carried.

Motion by Osborn, Seconded by Kash to approve the hiring of Fran Summers as a Grade School teacher's aide at an hourly rate of $16.25 per hour for the school year 2025-2026. Pending outcome of the employment history review according to P.A. 102-0676. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Lamke, Seconded by Klingler to approve the purchase of a 2020 Toro Sand Pro model 5040 from Futures Golf Equipment at a cost of $20,000. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Schaefer, Seconded by Osborn to approve the purchase of the QAS Nail Drag model#08761($1,617.72), Flex Groomer Kit model #8762($1,196.52), and Manual Drag Mat model #130- 7852($1,675.50) as attachments for the Toro Sand Pro with a total cost of $4,489.74 from MTI Distributing. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Schaefer, Seconded by Klingler to approve the purchase of a 2021 Walker Mower B271 with a 52 inch mulching deck from Joel Stine at a cost of $8,000. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Shaw, Seconded by Schaefer to approve Nicole Wisniewski as the 8th grade sponsor for the 2025-2026 school year. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Schaefer, Seconded by Lamke to approve Autumn Konkel as the Junior High Student Council sponsor for the 2025-2026 school year. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Shaw, Seconded by Osborn to approve Nealy Lewis and Kelsey Burns as co-sponsors for High School Scholar Bowl for the 2025-2026 school year. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Lamke, Seconded by Klingler to approve Jaid Burkett as the Youth and Government sponsor for the 2025-2026 school year. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Osborn to approve Jackie Hoffard as the FBLA High School Sponsor and Sophomore sponsor for the 2025-2026 school year. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Lamke, Seconded by Klingler to approve Anthony Lowery as the High School Social Media Coordinator for the 2025-2026 school year. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Schaefer to approve Lisa Kiselewski and Hailey Norris as co-sponsors for the High School Student Council for the 2025-2026 school year. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Schaefer, Seconded by Klingler for the Superintendent to post the Tenative Annual Budget for FY26 for public inspection for 30 days in the district office. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Schaefer, Seconded by Osborn to set the budget hearing for the FY26 Annual Budget on September 29, 2025 at 6:15 P.M. to be held in the High School Ag Room. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Shaw to approve 6 sick days and 2 personal days to be given as: 3 sick and 1 personal on August 1, 2025 and 3 sick and 1 personal on October 1, 2025 to the part time cooks and part time bus drivers. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Discussion of Insurance for part time staff, tabled. No action taken.

Motion by Schaefer, Seconded by Klingler to approve the changes to press policy 119 Transportation:

2:80 Board Member Oath and Conduct, 2:120-E2-Exhibit - Website Listing of Development and Training Completed by Board Members, 2:130 - Board-Superintendent Relationship

2:220-E4-Exhibit - Open Meeting Minutes, 7:140-Search and Seizure, 7:300- extracurricular Athletics, 8:80- Gifts to the District. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Kash, Seconded by Klingler to adjust the E Learning plan to utilize 5 E Learning days prior to any snow days. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Shaw, Seconded by Schaefer to approve the purchase of uniforms for the High School Cheerleaders to have a second uniform at a cost of $4,430 from Varsity. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.

Motion by Klingler, Seconded by Kash to approve the overnight field trip for FFA to Indianapolis on October 29-31st, 2025. Yea: Fassett, Kash, Klingler, Lamke, Osborn, Schaefer, and Shaw. Nay: None. Motion Carried.
