Benton Consolidated High School District 103 Board of Education met Sept. 4.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of the Benton Consolidated High School District #103 met in Special Session on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 4:26 P.M. in the Benton Consolidated High School Board Room. Mark Minor, president, called the meeting to order.

Opening prayer was led by Mitch Bennett. Jay Copple led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Board members present: Shane Cockrum, Jay Copple, Mitch Bennett, Marci Glover, Mark Minor and Stacia Sloan. Board member absent: Robin LaBuwi.

Others present: Benjamin Johnson, Superintendent; Sean Docherty, Principal; Barney Mundorf, Board Attorney; Bryant Engbers, Guin Mundorf LLC; Kenise Head, Recording Secretary; Lorie LeQuatte, ROE Superintendent of Schools; Cheryl Patterson-Menckowski, ECHO Alternative School Principal; Student and Family.

5. EXECUTIVE SESSION

5.1 Student Disciplinary Case

Jay Copple made the motion to enter into Executive Session to discuss a student disciplinary case. Shane Cockrum seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, all members present voted yes. Motion carried.

The Board; Benjamin Johnson, Superintendent; Sean Docherty, Principal; Barney Mundorf, Board Attorney; Bryant Engbers, Guin Mundorf LLC; Kenise Head, Recording Secretary; Lorie LeQuatte, ROE Superintendent of Schools; Cheryl Patterson-Menckowski, ECHO Alternative School Principal; Student and Family entered into an Executive Session in the Benton Consolidated High School Board Room at 4:30 P.M.

Open Session - The Board reconvened in an Open Session at 5:05 P.M. Marci Glover, Secretary called the roll. Answering present: Stacia Sloan - yes, Mitch Bennett - yes, Shane Cockrum - yes, Mark Minor - yes, Jay Copple - yes and Marci Glover - yes. Board member absent: Robin LaBuwi.

Others present: Benjamin Johnson, Superintendent; Sean Docherty, Principal; Barney Mundorf, Board Attorney; Bryant Engbers, Guin Mundorf LLC; Kenise Head, Recording Secretary; Lorie LeQuatte, ROE Superintendent of Schools; Cheryl Patterson-Menckowski, ECHO Alternative School Principal; Student and Family.

6. NEW BUSINESS

6.1 Possible Student Disciplinary Action Jay Copple made a motion to approve the expulsion of student #103007343 commencing September 5, 2025 and ending September 4, 2027. Shane Cockrum seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, all members present voted yes. Motion carried. A copy of this Motion has been attached to and made a part of these minutes.

7. BOARD OF EDUCATION REMARKS

Mr. Minor commented that he wanted the family to be aware of the willingness to help said student with counseling, social services, etc.

8. ADJOURNMENT Mitch Bennett made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:08 P.M. Jay Copple seconded the motion. Upon a roll call vote, all members present voted yes. Motion carried.
