Franklin County activist Karen Tucker has come to her own conclusions about the lingering coronaviirus.
“Who really knows when there will be a vaccine,” she told the North Egypt News. “I just think it’s something we’re going to have to learn to live with for a while. I know Gov. (J.B.) Pritzker wanting to be King of the Hill in his handling of everything hasn’t helped the situation in the least.”
And Tucker worries the damage may not be over.
Citing rising coronavirus infection rates, the governor recently warned the state could be headed for even more restrictions as at least 11 counties have now eclipsed “warning level.” Cass, Gallatin, Jackson, Jo Daviess, Johnson, Perry, Randolph, Saline, Sangamon, St. Clair and White counties have been identified as potential hotspots.
“I understand we’re trying to control the virus, but from the very start there have nothing but inconstancies,” Tucker added. “We were told all we have to do was flatten the curve, now all that seems like a lifetime ago.”
Even now, Tucker reasons they’re may be a plausible explanation for why some of the raw infection numbers are up.
“What I’m hearing is some of those numbers were added through contract tracing when those people were told to get tested and didn’t come from people that were actually having symptoms,” she said. “I think a lot of people have already had the virus and were asymptomatic and now we’re counting some of those numbers as infections.”
Tucker laments it seems Pritzker has used every opportunity to overreach to the point of abusing the powers of his office.
“He seems to love telling everyone what to do,” she said. “A better way to go would be to explain the situation to people and tell them what they need to be doing to protect themselves.”
