How much has Benton CCSD 47 overspent over the past 10 years?

Benton Community Consolidated School District 47 accumulated $5.12 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a North Egypt News analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, Benton CCSD 47 reported 16.4 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 42.5 percent.
