FIELD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: Homepage Field Falcon Newsletter

Newsletter

Field Elementary School issued the following announcement on Sept. 7.

It has been a wonderful short week at Field despite all the rain. Students have been working hard in reading, math, and have been continuing to work on developing their growth mindset. Please remember that we have two student late arrivals this month on Wednesday, September 12 and September 26.

Author Visit – We are excited to welcome author Suzanne Slade to Field School on Tuesday, September 11, to highlight her new book, Countdown: 2879 Days to the Moon. Her presentations for third through fifth grade will focus on the research and writing process. In addition, she has graciously volunteered to briefly speak with first and second grade students about her writing experience as a child. Mrs. Slade will be signing copies of her books later in the day. The book signing may delay some of the “walkers.” Please return the order form to school by Monday, September 10.

Literacy Acceleration – The Field Literacy Acceleration instructional block will be up and running for all grade levels by September 17. As we shared on Curriculum Night, this is a second dose of literacy instruction for ALL students. It is 30 minutes per day in addition to the Reading Workshop block. During Literacy Acceleration, support staff “flood” the grade level so we are able to regroup students across the grade according to their reading levels. Students who are not currently performing at grade level will be seen in small groups. Students who are performing at grade level will be in larger groups with materials at their level. The groups are made based on Fountas and Pinnell Reading Levels, MAP scores and classroom performance. The groups are flexible and students will be moved so they are constantly working at an appropriate level.

Parent Handbook – Please review The Elementary School 2018-19 Student and Parent Handbook for important information regarding policies and procedures. You can find it online on the District 205 website. If you have not already done so, please return a completed handbook sign-off sheet to the school office.

Social Media – If you are not already doing so, consider following us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter (@FieldD205) to see more of the learning taking place at Field! Also, many of our teachers have Instagram accounts. If you search field205 you can choose to follow them as well.
